History of the Original F2 Resistance Band Collar, Hook and Resistance Band Bar
When the pandemic hit in 2019 and gyms shut down, I needed to find a way to continue my workouts at home. However, without access to traditional free weights, this proved challenging. At that time, I had already invented the ALLN-1 Functional Fitness Bench, which allowed users to attach a barbell to the ALLN-1 Bench with resistance bands for exercises like hip thrusts, barbell curls, and squats. Unfortunately, traditional resistance bands didn’t provide enough resistance, and I was also dealing with a bulky 4-foot barbell that cost more to ship than it was worth.
This led me back to the drawing board in my garage, where I experimented with various designs.
After months of trial and error, I discovered a solution—a 3-piece barbell called the ALLN-1 Bar. But there was one problem: the bar didn’t have holes to attach resistance bands. Drilling holes manually proved difficult, so I searched for another solution.
The idea for resistance band collars came to me when I realized I could create collars that fit onto any bar, allowing eyebolts to connect resistance bands securely. After additional refinement, I developed the first version of what’s now known as the ChainBeast. Originally, this collar was designed to work with chains due to the shortage of free weights during the pandemic, but it worked perfectly with resistance bands as well. However, I still had over 300 bars that couldn’t be used with the ChainBeast due to their size.
To solve this, I invented the F2 Olympic Adapters, which allowed standard bars to work with the collars.
Next came the issue of resistance bands themselves.
Traditional tube bands weren’t strong enough and didn’t fit well. To solve this, I developed the VRS Clips, which allow users to adjust tube and flat bands for better resistance. Eventually, I created a hook specifically for flat bands, known today as the F2 rtHook—a simple but powerful solution for connecting resistance bands securely to any bar.
Now, I offer a range of resistance band collars, from split collars to fusion models, in sizes from 1” to 2”. They all come from the same core concept of securely attaching resistance bands to bars for a better workout.
